Moments of Expulsion

Curated mixed media exhibition of works by the artist Jo Scorah
2017

I curated this exhibition as a part of three distinct installations in a building takeover for the London Festival of Architecture in 2017, & relating to the host organisation’s season theme of Migration.

Moments of Expulsion, by the Manchester based artist Jo Scorah, is a mixed media project exploring explore the emotional impact of conflict and displacement from Syria. Using fabric, painting & sound installation, Scorah’s works were structured around the architecture of the space to best introduce the emotional feelings they emit to visitors who pass through, linger or explored the building.

Large scale sculptural works hung from the ceiling of the dining space, viewable from a number of locations inside & outside the building, smaller intimiate paintings were framed & positioned in white-wall spaces, while unexpected sound works & sculptures could be found in transitionary spaces.
