Disposed totems &
A series of organised objects
Mixed media sculptures2019
Stepping in the footsteps of mudlarkers, the artist reclaimed objects from four sites along the Thames foreshore, public wildernesses, archives of transformative processes, and separate from the ordered city above.
A poetic essay can be read parallel to these works, HERE.
Fragments of buildings and animals are given new meaning as four totems representing the power of the ordinary and disposable against forces of gentrification, embodied at each site by unaffordable speculative developments capitalising upon proximity to and views across our national river.
Alongside, A Series of Organised Objects propose uncanny connections across time, matter and function, unlikely relationships forged in muddy depths reclaiming a presence in their city.
